Ok, i'm sure i' not the only one who dislikes some tracks. We all talk about how great this band is, but never about how bad songs they made. While i'm fine with all their albums, there are few tracks which i really don't like to hear, and this topic is made to tell what motorhead songs you wish never were written.
1.I ain't no nice guy. i dislike this song so much. it has really corny feeling to it nad is probably most nonmotorhead song in my opinion. i never though motorhead sold out, but i really feel that way about this song, as their tryout with radio audience and girls who are into poison and every rose has its thorn.
2. jack the ripper. kinda cool at first, but actually very boring song. it sounds like trace of good idea that went to nowhere. it feels like it's 10 minutes long . not actually that bad, but totally uninspired song.
these two songs are actually only thing that's not so good on march or die in my opinion. as whole, i think it's great album, really. too good to be true, asylum choir and name in vain are among my all time MH faves. stand, cat scratch fever and bad religion are bit dull, but not enough to ruin album for me.
3. i know how to die. goddammit this song is so fucking overrated with cheesy meloody, second coming of i ain't no nice guy.
4. devils in my head. kinda in the same vein as i know how to die. what i mean is it has some sort of melodic part (chorus in this case) which really feels out of place for me.
5. waiting for the snake. the world is yours strikes again!!!!!!! i don't know why, but i have strugles with melodic parts of this record. as song it really ain't so bad, but that melodic chorus and generic main riff really don't fit to each other. this album hot lot of praise, but i think it's probably wost MH record.
It maybe sounds worse than it is, but i ain't so bad with any MH records really. Every of them has some great moments, but i can't seem to pass the fact they sound uninspired, generic and cheesy at the few spots in their discography.
so what are some of your most annoying MH moments? I know very well that some members here dislike don't let daddy kiss me (which is in my opinion great and dark song which fits into latter half of Bastards after hammering intro tracks)
it's your turn

Interesting thread Luka, though my list of MH-nonstarters is rather short, with "Killed by Death" on top of it: downright dull and uninspired, and more so the live-versions featuring gueststars such as Danko Jones or that Skew Siskin singer. Probably followed by "Going to Brazil" as I've never been overly excited about this rockabilly-style of music ...... and that's about it, only other one I can think of would be Lem's duet on Doro's "Raise your fist"-album, a pretty cheesy ballad with Lem delivering clean vocals instead of his usual barking, gravelly voice. Just my 2¢ ;-).
As for Don't let Daddy kiss me", I guess it's particularly the lyrics that make people feel uneasy, notably if they've got children of their own.

That's one very good topic.
Personally, I dislike it when I feel like bands are trying to play their own stereotype. You know, when you have the impression of a massive lack of inspiration, with the band choosing to play it safe and fast. Say, Motörhead is a hard, loud band dealing with dark issues, and then you get a song like Assassin. Which is heavy, and loud, and about people killing people... but it's repetitive, doesn't have a memorable melody, nor memorable lyrics.
A lot of this goes under the general definition of filler, but I have the impression that when Motörhead do filler, they try too hard to be Motörhead. Just relax guys, do an instrumental or a cover, it's fine, you're good at covers.

Since I don´t have English as my main language, I really never paid attention to the lyrics .. so, not a issue to me. So i m more about how cool the song is or not ... I love almost all songs... but will name a few I really don´t like... I like hard and heavy music... so Lemmy to be pretending romantic don´t match to me... lol.. I hate AIN´T NO NICE GUY ... Lemmy´s voice isn´t for ballads... he has too strong voice for that... and as Motorajzd .. feel that commercial thing...
Don't let Daddy kiss me" ... didn´t know at first what its talks about... only after follow the subjects on fb or forums ... but really don´t care... that slow boring parts... geez... and the newest song ... the slow part... because I love the fast part... Lost woman blues... when starts ... very boring ... but the end is fucking awesome like Limb from Limb... I like the following songs.. but I m sick of them... especially because they don´t change the set list lately... so a off topic... Born to raise hell ... Killed by death... Just 'Cos You Got the Power See ... not too many songs..

I have to say, 1916 can have beautiful lyrics and talk about something honorable, but that keyboard in the background sucks. lol The same happens with songs like Nightmare the dream time and March ör Die, very good lyrics, but tedious songs!

It's interesting how different the motivations can be for which songs are the worst. For instance, I love Nightmare the Dreamtime exactly because it's droning.

It dawns on me that Nightmare is basically Motörhead trying to do doom.

I think the songs fit well on the album, but I will never wake up a day and think 'Oh, ready to listen' ... lol
and Legion, liked your explanation for the band to be trying playing only to keep the stereotype, it cleared my mind to an idea I also had!

Nice thread Luka !!!
Although I like almost every song of Motörhead there are a few songs that imo is a waste of time listening to it. BTW: have something the same as Marco with lyrics and Lemmy's voice on ballad songs
A few songs I always skip are:
Nightmare/The Dreamtime: Never understand this song, it's a dull, boring song to me. Can't say anything good about this one.
1916: After the song Shut You Down it's eject the disc. Heard this song several times but I just don't like to listen to it. Maybe it has some great lyrics but absolute a NON Motörhead song for me.
March or Die: I also have nothing with this song. Glad this is also the last track of that album. Maybe good lyrics again, I dunno, but to me this is not a song.
Serial Killer: Same goes for this "song". I have no idea what this song is doing on that album. Again, I have nothing with "songs" like this. Also here, this albums ends for me after the song Red Raw. Absolute waste of time listening to Serial Killer imo. In less than 1:45 minutes they can do a much better song like: R.A.M.O.N.E.S (1:26)
Some of my least favorite songs are the ones when Lemmy tries to "sing" on (semi) ballads (hi Marco ) like: Dead and Gone, Love me Forever, I Ain't No Nice Guy, Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me, One More Fucking Time, God Was Never On My Side, Dust and Glass. Don't get me wrong, I like all of those songs, but I prefer to hear Lemmy's voice raw and raspy.

another tough one.off my head I cant think of many, but having read the threads above I agree with a couple of them.so here goes eat the gun, dont let daddy kiss me,assasin ,I aint no nice guy, and I know its not a song but what was the point of serial killer? As for I know how to die- I absolutely love this song.Fun to play along with as well
And talking about songs that we are fed up with hearing live all the while-well it could be 5/6 of them but the one that gets on my tits most of all is metropolis

Oh yeah, Serial Killer. I like it, but boy is it pointless. Or experimental, if you want. I actually prefer pointless stuff to the bad filler though. I can listen to Serial Killer; I can't listen to Assassin.
Also, Serial Killer does have the Snaggletooth grunting at the end, so there's that.
