i actually never skip in general, every cd i put on - i listen to whole album
but when i drive car, i skip a lot because i just want something fun to play at moment, it's not situation in which i'll enjoy music like when i'm alone in house, so i really don't have nerve to go through the whole thing
from experience, i learned that i would miss a lot of good stuff if i skipped because there are always some songs which are some sort of hidden gems, stuff that takes some time to grow on you and you would never notice its value if you skipped. some of such songs are name in vain and asylum choir from march or die
also, there are songs which you find fun in the start, but boring later (agan march or die album -jack the ripper!)
so in my opinion it's good to go through whole record in start and take some time to find out which stuff passes the test of time
so i don't think it's good to skip, at least until you really learn the album

That's true, one should not be hasty with new albums.

Yes, well said. Often when I've lived with an album I reappraise the songs , right I better go spend some time with the Mrs, see you all tomorrow (unless I go to JohnnyMarr!)

Its a bad habit though isn't it?! I used to have reverence for tapes in particular, you didn't want to keep FF/RW or they'd stretch or jam up. So I listened warts and all. I used to have a Polydor 2-albums-on-1-cassette of Rainbow Down to Earth and Difficult to Cure, some of it is awful but I never ever skipped a song. Makes me shudder, Grahm bonnet in Rainbow but at the time it was ok I usually listen to vinyl at home, so skipping tracks ain't the cleverest thing to do ..... I'd have to walk over to the record player, stop the whole thing, very cautiously lift the needle and - after finding the goddamn reading glasses - lower it down again even more meticulously to avoid scratches .... so no thanks, this whole procedure is too much of a hassle. I admit to skipping tracks on the MP3 player though, some albums even getting the "shuffle"-treatment, which sometimes can make for a nice, unexpected surprise effect.

The worst songs of Motorhead.....
Serial Killer The Game King of Kings Line in the sand......so any that has a fucking wrestler involved... Also Metropolis does my skull in as does killed by death...overplayed and especially with metropolis, why the fuck are they always in the set? Very strange....and just cos you got the power is another that ruins gigs and live albums....would like them 3 alot more if they were used sparingly...

I can't believe this is the first thread I post into I've been on the imotorhead.com forum with the same name, but just registered here, because I noticed that no-one has mentioned the ultimate worst throwaway track from Motörhead: Hell On Earth - from Hellraiser III soundtrack (can also be found on Stone Deaf Forever! Box Set) It has weird synths and it's possibly done with a drum machine just stomping a steady beat on the bass drum with some tambourine here and there. The little guitar solo part is great though Now I am a big fan of Motörhead since 1980 and I think everything they did up to the early 90s was amazing, and not a single turkey track, but the 90s records have some tracks and more metallic tones that I am not so fond of (most of them are already mentioned in this topic), I always liked my Motörhead as a rock'n'roll band But Hell On Earth is the only Motörhead track I try to forget ever hearing... and well, maybe some of those "wrestler tracks"...

One man's meat is another man's poison, eh? Never really liked Civil War. Metropolis has sounded a bit laboured for some time now., although I still like the studio version. I went off Just Cause You Got The Power for a long time but really enjoyed it live recently. It's a love hate relationship with the live set sometimes isn't it? As they've slowed down in a few tunes, they sometimes don't sound as good. However, I remember a point in the early nineties when they played most of the set, shall we say, hurriedly and that wasn't great either. I think their stage sound is probably better now than it was 30 years ago so at least you can hear the lyrics and some separation.

Also, at least you get to leave the gig with your face intact these days. Back in the days of the 4 piece they were ripping you a new one every night. Definitely no prisoners, but as you say some songs that foot to the floor attitude isn't necessarily the best. I didn't see that at the time as a younger lad, but now I'm of a certain vintage i can appreciate a slightly slower tempo on some songs. Probably why I love Just Cause You Got The Power when they play it, although that is a song that works best with twin guitars IMO. Last time I saw it played with 2 guitarists was with Slash at Donington in 2010. Great moment
