This reminds me of that time I went to a Tool gig and Mastodon were the opening act and there's this guy in a suit right at the edge of the mosh pit, twentysomething, right out of a country club. "Uh, cool. Special occasion?" "No, I always dress like this." Hahahahaha. You always get one. First time I saw AC/DC it was in '88 at Wembley Arena. 10k fans milling round and there standing out like a sore thumb was a lad in a day-glo green shirt with bleached blonde 80's style hair. He was getting some odd looks from all of us, especially the large biker types in the crowd. To his credit he was headbanging like a bastard all night. Oh and Regina, I can't speak for Tim or Mark but I aint no gent

Yeah, the Tool attendee was also totally into it. The beauty with these guys is that they're actually not trolls. Also this guy was apparently with some friends, and they had all the stereotypical sludge metal look, you know, part denim, part leather, part hoodies. He just had a personal love for dressing sharp apparently.

And once again it's most impressive what kind of zigzag course a thread can take ....

We should start a "weird stories from concerts" thread.

I'll venture to the Weird Stories thread in a Tad....I just been going through this thread. Very slowly. It's taken me days. I'm just not a fan of bands being recorded digitally. Funny thing is, I just listen to FLACS and mp3s now coz I lost a lot of stuff and I'm too lazy for a record player etc etc, so I always listen to stuff digitally but the recording process defo should not be digital. But the worst ever thing is the live sound, not just of Motorhead but of almost every band I've seen in a big-ish venue over the last decade. Like, what on earth is that monotone THUD of a kick drum?? And why the fuck does the soundguy wear earplugs??? Ermm I'm rambling so I'll shut up but I'll get back to this and explain better blah-blah

as i mentioned lot of times on old boards and here too, overnight sensation is among my favorite records, but i'm not quite fan of civil war. good song but it just doesn't fit in album's flow, whenever i'm in car and listening to that album, i always start from crazy like a fox

Good point Luka, skipping songs was difficult in the old days of tapes/vinyl, the cd/ipod skip has revolutionised listening, I think I just realised that! Been playing Aftershock a lot lately and rarely listen to Heartbreaker, don't like that song a lot now

Oh yeah, skipping. I almost always skip through anything I listen to. Even on the best albums, I usually only end up listening to one third of the songs.

Its a bad habit though isn't it?! I used to have reverence for tapes in particular, you didn't want to keep FF/RW or they'd stretch or jam up. So I listened warts and all. I used to have a Polydor 2-albums-on-1-cassette of Rainbow Down to Earth and Difficult to Cure, some of it is awful but I never ever skipped a song. Makes me shudder, Grahm bonnet in Rainbow but at the time it was ok

Skipping can be good for the obvious reasons, but it also can make you overlook grower songs, or the overall feel of the more organic albums. So it's a mixed thing for me.
