Heres my review of Bad Magic.
Victory or die.
When the colonel begins the album "VICTORY OR DEATH!" i expected the track to kick in to a more furious pace. However its a fucking good rocker and has the Motorgroove which im adicted to. Basic riffage from axesmith but the great arangement keeps it from becoming a bore. The lyrics portray the proper kind of attitude to have, full bore, no bullshit....NO REGRETS. 8/10
Thunder and lightning.
Love this riff simple but a real punisher and Mikkeys druming is full on Punk, almost D-Beat. This is the type of Motorhead i love, relentless groove and heavy beats. Lem gives us an insight in to his lust for touring, which makes the current situation all the more depressing. Best track on the album 10/10
Fire storm hotel.
Nice mid paced effort, very Keef richards meets ZZ TOP style riffing. Dosent beat any track from Aftershock however and the lyrics reveal nothing except Lems ability to write any old shit in to a song. 6/10
Shoot out all your lights.
This riff and beat is much in the vien of Inferno as is the lyrics to be honest. Good but dosent grab me imediately. A bit modern Motorhead by numbers in my drunken opinion. Nice solo from Axesmith. 6/10
The devil.
Fat opening riff very heavy. Again this could be a Inferno track and doesent grab me at all. To Metal for my liking. Brian May whips up a good solo but i have no reason why they chose this track for him. Bit of a non event. 5/10
Electricity.
Smiling like a killer is the best track from Inferno and this is esentialy the same riff. I love the riff but shows a lack of creativity from Axesmith. I still like this track though very catchy chorus and the lyrics are another of Lems Motivational gems. Good RnR 8/10
Evil eye.
Great opening beat and nice percusion on top remaniscant of AOS style tracks. Love the track but never to sure about the evil vocal, with the normal vocal following (which sounds superb) it sounds a bit imature. However i can deal with it and still think its a great rocker 7/10
Teach them how to bleed.
Wicked bass intro, love the colonels tone. Another great locamotive of a beat from Dee. Great solid lyrics and has the GROOVE.....7/10
Till the end.
It seems like this is lems goodbye lyricaly. Hearing it with the lyrics in front of me almost brought a tear to my eye. It seems almost a poetic tradgedy that this album arived to me on the day following Lems first failedshow of the current tour. Reminds me of Lost in the o zone/ nice guy. Great personal moment from the colonel and backed up with a solid tune. 10/10
Tell me who to kill.
Love this riff and its great to hear lots of the colonels bass at the top of the mix. "STAND UP STRAIGHT AND TALK TO ME!" Great lyric. But the whole song dosent have the edge many great Motorhead tracks have. Ok but nothing special. 6/10
Choking on your screams.
Like a shit Brotherhood of man, Not keen at all. 4/10
When the sky comes looking for you.
Sounds like Motorizer track but not sur which. One of those solid tracks without any real quality about it. Dont get the multi tracking of vocals on some parts. Lyrics? babble....still better then anything ive done. 6/10
Sympathy for the devil.
Good cover, updated and heavier, like it alot. Mikkey dee is a shit load better then ol charlie watts.....fits lems aged vocal nicely 7/10
