So two wheat beer and others are lagers. Pilsner is Czech beer other are german. Dont know who made in town Plzen Pilsner Urquell before, but it is near german border where sudetten germans lived before (remember after austria in 1938 Hitler took sudetten lands, later in 1945 most of germans were evicted from that territory), I remember some propaganda film from 1930's in color, from Berlin, all Berlin in flags with swastika, guards infront reich luftwaffe ministerium etc... and in one street above some doors it say commercial "Pilsner Urquell". If I found this movie i will put it here or not... whatever..

I've just unboxed and listened to Bad magic in the last hour, after working the whole day on university stuff, while the package with the white vinyl and CD was just lying few meters next to me. I knew, if I listen to it, I can mess up work, cause I can't focus again. So I tortured myself the whole day.. you can imagine how relieving the first listen was.. boooom!
Well, it's only my seventh album I think it's publication I witness as a Motörhead Fan (my first one was 'Hammered' when I was 14 or 15), but every time I feel so excited as with any other band.

Goddammit! Was informed by Amazon today that my copy will not arrive until fucking Wednesday now!! Technically my fault, as I forgot to change the payment method from my old card to my current one...... Also, it's not as if I even have time to listen to it properly until after the weekend, but I might have been able to flip through the booklet at least...And there's something exciting about unwrapping goodies too! I hope everyone enjoys their Bad Magic-fests over the weekend anyway, and I will catch up with you all soon!

Got my white vinyl/cd package from Nuclear Blast today. Unfortunately the cd only comes in a paper sleeve which is a bit wank- maybe I should have read the description on their website properly but was expecting a cd with booklet . On the positive side -im off to listen to the record

Just picked up a copy at Best Buy. I've only had time to listen to the first three tracks. The opener, "Victory or Die" totally blew me away. Had already heard "Thunder and Lightning" but still a good song. Just started "Fire Storm Hotel" when I pulled into work parking lot from lunch. Will listen to the rest on the way home tonight. Really digging this CD so far!

Sorry. I like about 4 or 5 songs.
Phil in particular is going through the motions and seems to recycle riffs from previous albums a lot.
I honestly like Motorhad's albums more from the 90s onward but the more I listen to the 2000s albums the more I hear Phil just fucking about on the same chords or riffs all the time. Makes me appreciate Lemmy's genius to turn this stuff into great music. Without his vocals and melodies it would be a pub band. He makes it world class.
I started this board. Huge fan. Not trolling.

Alright then, my first impression after one day of heavy rotation: The old line of how these guys keep writing the same album over and over again rings somewhat true in this case. My prevailing opinion has always been that the band has written and performed on autopilot since INFERNO and sorry to say so but Bad Magic is definitely not going to change my mind about that. There's nothing in it that straight-up sucks but then there's nothing that's mind-blowingly great or overwhelmingly groundbreaking either. Not that I'm left disappointed, not at all, it simply sounds like Motörhead, which is all we could reasonably expect at this point. In several instances they seem to simply copy their trusted formula of earlier material that has already stood the test of time: THUNDER AND LIGHTNING is the band's obligatory galloping "Overkill"/ "Iron Fist" re-write, and ELECTRICITY's main riff totally reminds me of "Smiling like a killer" (yep, Mr. Campell seems to somewhat lack fresh ideas and instead rely on a standard-issue heavy metal tone). But then there's also the winners in my book: FIRE STORM HOTEL recalls the "1916"/ "Bastards" era while its lyrics are almost poetic. EVIL EYE shines with a percussion style which serves as the perfect counterpoint to Lemmy's raspy growls. And last but not least my personal favourite so far, TELL ME WHO TO KILL, for all of its glory of cro-magnon heaviness. Not so impressed with the Stones cover though - sounds like pure pub karaoke to me - and why there's all that praise for this track is completely beyond me. Oh well, people are different . And I'd rather they'd have picked TILL THE END as closing track, the ballad where Lemmy's realization of his own mortality seems to have considerably influenced his lyrics. Rating today: 6,5 out of 10.
