Happy holidays everybody, just heard this the other day from my freind Jason, singer for The Deterrents www.thedeterrents.com . He told me his former drummer Mark"Evvo"Evans is now playing with Wurzel. Evvo played with metal band Warrior Soul in the late 80's with local boy Pete McClanaham(former bass player for early 80's Providence punk rock band The Mumbling Sculls) Evvo was a roadie for Motorhead( I don't know what tours) and was also associated with another local band The Worried. He had a real bad back I hear and went back to his home in England (we don't have free health care in the U.S.) to get his back fixed. His Docter was the guy who replaced Topper Headon in The Clash. If I find out anything else that hasen't been posted on this bored, I'll let you know

Excuse me for asking a "girl" question, , but what the hell was with the armbands that Wurzel used to wear? A mere fashion statement? I've always thought armband/misplaced bracelet thingymabobs were strange.

This is pretty vast a board huh Fisk? Now and then I spot you answering to ancient threads... I don't know about Wurzel's armbands, by the way.
;D

Well there are 677 different topics as of right now, so yes, the board is fairly vast. And this thread isn't that ancient, but I still want to know what's up with the armbands.

Also it's a fairly relevant thread to the overall topic of the entire board.
I dunno about the armbands either but I like them. ;D

I saw Wurzel in my local pub in Kent one week after he left the band. He was playing a gig under the name "Wurzel's totally brassic" with Tyla from the Dogs D'amour, and two guys from the "Tatooed Loveboys".
Hardly anyone was in the pub all night so I got to talk to him in depth about the split with Motorhead, and it was fairly accrimonious to say the least. He did indeed believe that he was being ripped off - he said "I can't pay my phone bill, yet Lem can afford all that Nazi stuff!"
This didn't add up to me because for a man who can't pay his phone bill, he was smoking an awful lot of weed!
I did get him to sign my day old copy of Sacrifice which he said was the first copy he had ever seen. He seemed like a nice enough bloke, but bitter about the split. When they got arroud to playing, he told me not to expect any motorhead as he was fed up with it all, then they played a load of old blues and a few Who numbers. Since then I haven't heard anything.

and of course Lemmy gets more money cos of the extra albums he's done and of course from the success of Ace of Spades. Can't see why Wurzel would get ripped off. Phil and Mikkey seem happy enough and I'm sure they wouldn't be happy if they weren't getting a fair deal. Mikkey in particular strikes me as the sort who takes zero shit off anyone, even the king of rock n roll himself.

Aye. That's interesting news Deadmanshand. We used to have Wurz's ex here too... maybe we could gather all the bits-n-pieces and have the real Wurzel puzzle image?
;D

Yeah that could be interesting. I had a longstanding friendship with Pete Gill, and he had a few interesting stories about his time in the band.
