So hey everyone.
Lemmy has finally ascended to godhood, and Mikkey and Phil won't go on with Motörhead; which is the right choice if you ask me. The songs are passing into rock history, and so we the fans are now, for all intents and purposes, Motörhead. I think it would be a good idea to capture what we're all doing these days, in honor and remembrance of the man.
So what are you drinking? Which songs are you listening to? What are the antics?
I came to know about the thing from our very own Moderator, the Goddess of Thunder, while chatting on Facebook about the new Star Wars. We proceeded to first cry our eyeballs out, and then start drinking and listening to the tunes. Then the news started making the rounds and I found myself posting everywhere and chatting with the old friends - Dunk, Matty, Multiplemike, and Mike Hannon from American Dog, who very wisely reminded us to PARTY AND CELEBRATE. Beer was had by some, whiskey from the bottle by others, vast quantities of Red Bull and other sources of caffeine. I played the following songs at the maximum possible volume - among my favourites, I chose to go with the brutal and/or fun songs. I had no boat to burn but I wanted it to be a Viking funeral. Here's the playlist:
Motorhead We Are Motörhead God Save the Queen Walk a Crooked Mile Death or Glory Sacrifice Sex & Death Better Off Dead Bomber I'm so Bad Terminal Show Trigger Electricity Love for Sale Broken Iron Fist The Thousand Names of God Rock Out On Your Feet or on Your Knees Born To Raise Hell Hellraiser We Are Motörhead, again Motorhead, again
Then I went back to this or that song until I collapsed, as it was proper and good.

Yep my playlist was pretty similar I won't pretend I didn't have a wee bawl when I found out the news, but not long afterwards it was the heavy/fast/fun songs and lots of vodka (yesterday, all I had in the house) and Jack (bought some today - had to be done!) I have warned the landlord of my local that Thursday night will be commanded by me at the jukebox and everyone else can suck it \m/ Long live the King!!

Today I tweeted a Tweet-sized short story:
@mymotorhead #Lemmy passes the pearly gates, approaches God's throne. The throne is empty. Lemmy sits down, smiles. Thank you for everything
As I finished typing, I realized it was exactly 160 characters. Obviously destiny.

Hello all. Just joined after Lem's passing. Found the site while scouring the web in search of motorhead news.
Long time fan. Initial impact was via Orgasmastron and No sleep era. Wore out the "Anthology" cassette. Stayed true since. Seen the band open for Dio and Iron Maiden and at the 2012 MayhemFest.
Gutted by Lems death.Of course we all seem it coming. And we all know no one lives forever. But dammit it fucking hurts. The band touched so many lives. Hopefully Philthy and Wurzel have some music prepared so Lemmy can put lyrics too.
Ive been jammin the Stone Deaf boxset,Bastards and Bad Magic.
Now to see if i can actually watch the Lemmy movie.
PLAY IT LOUD!!!
Cheers!!

Now to see if i can actually watch the Lemmy movie. Oh yes, that film is powerful, especially now. And welcome to the forum, to both of you.

Woke up 6AM to see the sad news. Cracked open the Motörhead vodka my wife had bought me few years ago as a Xmas present. Had a sip, just a sip, and started to blast through the Motörhead back catalogue. Starting from "Bad Magic" and ending with "On Parole" late last night. I am on holiday so no hurry anywhere. Slept a little, and now continuing with "What's Words Worth" I mean, the music will live on forever. Glad I saw them in Helsinki on Dec 6th, that was my 11th time. It wasn't the strongest gig from Lemmy, but now I think it’s AMAZING how he kept on powering through to the end of the tour and even did the two rescheduled shows in Germany on Dec 9th and 11th. And big respect to Phil & Mikkey for riding with the old warhorse ‘til the very end!
I can’t see any band or artist replacing Motörhead’s place in my musical interests, so I guess I’ll cherish the memories and keep rockin’ out to the records they made.

Random albums and live stuff. Though if one of the Motorballads comes on I fast forward, as it were. So so far, after all these long/short hours I'm onto SnakeBite Love
I'm really fucking gutted

Heard about the passing at 6:00 in the morning, called my boss and told him that I can´t come to work. Went to my motörhead room and started crying... Then I decided that Lemmy did not want us to cry. He wanted us to party hard!! And that´s exactly what I did! With a lot of Jack & Coke and the hole back catalogue. After a short while a lot of my friends came by so we had a fucking blast till 3 oclock in the morning... That´s how the chief wanted it..
Motorhead for ever! MHB 3742

Morning all, woke up to the news yesterday courtesy of a text off a friend (thanks Mark), words fail me really. Played songs on and off the whole day with a couple of beers and some wine and my phone kept pinging all day with texts emails off friends (some of whom I've never met but consider friends nonetheless!) about Lemmy's passing. The band and the man have been part of me for about 34-5 years and been watching them for slightly less than that. I can only sum it up as a pleasure, whether they were good live (mostly) or indifferent (very occasionally) they were ALWAYS Motorhead. Bless you all and let's remember him in our own way. By the way, I'd suggest DesertRat's wonderful account of this year's Motorboat as a great read for remembering him as he really was.# And for UK readers, yes Ace of Spades as number 1 would be "nice" but all the social media threads seem jampacked with bandwagon jumpers "liking" this week's big story (to me).

This hasn't sunk in yet and won't for quite some time. ....and while I'm personally not one for public mourning on anonymous social media, fair play to anyone who can find some sort of relief expressing their thoughts and feelings on here.

I woke up to my girldfiriend saying to me "Lemny has passed away" and I didnt believe that in the moment. Then I opened the computer and checked the facts. He was gone. I had no idea what to say or do. First song I played was God Was Never On Your Side and after that I've played Motörhead 250+ songs for this moment and going on still.
I went amd bought Jack Daniel's and Coca-Cola obviously. Drank beer through the day and watched "Live Fast, Die Old", "The Guts and The Glory" amd Lemmy-documents. Watched lots of live performances. I still cant really realize the fact that Lemmy is no more amongst us, but as said in the Lemmy-movie. I refuse to sorrow. Rather than that I dedicate my days for now on to celebrate Lemmy's lifework.
The man had huge influence on me in so many ways and Motörhead's music is big reason why I am still here writing this text.
I hope Lemmy is having a drink with Philty, Würzel, Hendrix and all the cats from his past. Somewhere is going on one hell of a party.

I am just gutted, reading articles on different websites about the passing, had only 3-6 months to live, being told only days after your birthday, my god, my brain would of been all over the place, i first watched Motorhead way back in 1979, i remember walking into the theatre, the combined smells of beer, sweat, funny smelling cigs (you know what i mean boys and girls), the amps, the crowd, the noise, it was Rock n roll, in fact it was non bullsh*t rock n roll, i had great pleasure in meeting Lemmy in Germany, he sat with me and we talked about music, he was (and still is) a gentleman, i still have the picture, and i will treasure it, but one thing MOTORHEAD'S music will live on (and on). So get out that Motorhead shirt, crack open a JD and coke, turn your hi-fi up 'till 11, raise your glass because.......HE WAS LEMMY AND HE PLAYED ROCK N ROLL.
God bless, Goodnight Lemmy R.I.P.

Now to see if i can actually watch the Lemmy movie. Oh yes, that film is powerful, especially now. And welcome to the forum, to both of you. Oh wow, yeah it is! I watched both 'Live Fast Die Old' last night AND the Lemmy movie Obviously bits of both were hard to watch, but other bits seemed strangely and darkly funny at the same time! I did the whole thing while drinking Jack and Coke, and then promptly remembered why I usually drink Jack with soda - I had to brush my fucking teeth twice to get rid of the sugary film covering the whole inside of my mouth (I have OCD with regards to dental hygiene, haha!) Bless my husband too - he's not a huge Motorhead fan, but thinks they're 'OK', and I only managed to get him to come to one show with me (which he did really enjoy), and he's been really accommodating to my moping around, getting drunk and listening to lots of loud Motorhead! He probably secretly thinks there's something wrong with me but he's been nice enough not to say anything! I've really enjoyed reading so many stories about how Lemmy has influenced so many and touched the lives of so many, and I hope at some point in the not-too-distant future that we can all have some kind of massive get-together and celebration of the man's life and music.

Thanks and sympathy, Tim. I take the suggestion you made that people read my Motorboat report on here again as the ultimate compliment and thank you for it. I dare not look at it and know Alan put it in the last Motörheadbangers magazine too where he credited this website on my request. It never hurts to send some more traffic this way! I know what I wrote about my last meeting with Lem in particular which just brings a limp to my throat just thinking about it, never mind reading it. I'm very in a bubble here in Saudi for work purposes only. It just intensifies the feeling of loss I'm feeling right now but like you, I derive a great sense of comfort of sharing the loss of this great man - and he was so fucking great - with other like-minded souls. I'm not religious and don't like to criticize people for their beliefs but I'd like to think that his essence is in a better place now. I thought it about this ever since I heard the news and have come to the conclusion that he is somewhere in the ether, singing his heart out and rumbling away in that inimitable way on his Rickenbacker. As painful as it all is now - and I must say I am so jealous of you fuckers that can get your hands on JD right now as I have to make do with whatever I can make do with here - believe me I'm getting plastered with the best soundtrack the world has ever known. And the sooner the mainstream catches up and realized it the better! I'm babbling now along to the likes of: Golden Years EP - jamming along with my Les Paul copy on Leavin' Here with overdrive pedal and full distortion Beerdrinkers and Hellraisers - what a joyful refrain ! In The Name Of Tragedy - lyric is making me laugh so much, nearly pissed myself just then Fast And Loose- singing along to the chorus We Are The Road Crew - the version where Fast Eddie falls over, creating feedback and you can hear Lem laughing Limb From Limb - wicked change in time signature mid-way through Dust And Glass- chillin out a bit Keep Us On The Road - dropped another handful, I thought she would explode! Lost In The Ozone - weeping a bit now, quite drunk Them Not Me- a bit angry that one Christine - happy again! Orgasmatron (think the neighbour has fainted with fright) Dr Rock - hey you, hey me! I ain't no doctor of philosophy! Sympathy For The Devil- he's right, it is better than the original. Didn't think so first time around but I do now. Think I'll watch 17 year old me bopping in front of him during Bomber and Mean Machine on ECT now. Go and watch it on You Tube. I'm the little cunt wearing NHS glasses. Then I'll track down the James Whale Radio Show (actually on TV) from 1990 on Virginity where there's a great interview with him and the band near the end . I was there too. Think I need a lie down now.
