AC/DC'S BLACK ICE SET FOR RELEASE OCTOBER 20: August 18, 2008, New York, NY – Columbia Records announced today the October 20th release of AC/DC's widely-anticipated Black Ice, the band’s first studio album in eight years. Black Ice features 15 new tracks from brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, and Phil Rudd. The album was produced by Brendan O’Brien at the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC. Rock 'N' Roll Train, the album’s first single, will debut on August 28th. The video will premiere in September. And the band is set to kick off its first world tour since 2001 in late October. Black Ice will be sold in the U.S. exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club retail locations at the special price of $11.88. Online, the CD will be available with free shipping and handling via the band’s website, www.acdc.com. It will also be sold at Walmart.com and Samsclub.com. Black Ice is currently available for pre-order at www.acdc.com and Walmart.com. Track Listing (from WalMart): 1. Rock 'N Roll Train 2. Skies On Fire 3. Big Jack 4. Anything Goes 5. War Machine 6. Smash N Grab 7. Spoilin' For A Fight 8. Wheels 9. Decibel 10. Stormy May Day 11. She Likes Rock N Roll 12. Money Made 13. Rock N Roll Dream 14. Rocking All The Way 15. Black Ice. I'm assuming that us not in the US can order by the usual means, rather than Wallmart only. There was a fake songlist doing the rounds over the past month or so.

I haven't bought any AC/DC albums since Ballbreaker in 1995 (well there's only been one since), but I have a good feeling about this one. Johnson helping with the songwriting again, first album in 8 years (and probably the last they do if we're honest with ourselves), much better song titles than those fakes that were leaked earlier.
I just feel it in my testes that this will be their best in many years.

Name change. I'm too used to Copeland from my No Sleep friends. Aw. GROUP HUG ;D 15 songs is good. I just hope they didn't write them all in, like, two afternoons or some such. *cough* Ballbreaker *cough*

15 songs is a bit of a worry, actually. It spells either "filler" to get a 60-70minute CD or they didn't discard any tracks. Either way, there will be a few duffers on there probably.
When was the last time AC/DC managed a 10 song album without filler? 1981?
If more bands put out shorter albums without feeling the need to fill up CD space, we'd have more newer classic albums, rather than overly long records that get bogged down with filler.

Agree Copeland, it's far better with 10 good tracks on a CD than 10 good, 5 decent and 4 bad...

From what I remember, at least a year ago, they said they had enough songs for a double album, so a lot has been cut. Considering how long it's been since their last studio effort, 15 might not be so bad afterall.

15 good ones would be nice, but I doubt that can pull it off, but it would be nice.

you can listen to rock'n'roll train on ACDC.com
sounds oldschool, but a bit boring. lets see what happens.
i think airbourne will be the truer ACDC album in 2008...

hm, acctually i quite like the song, which rather surprised me as the last ac/dc-album i really enjoyed was "back in black"... at the moment i'm especially happy with the vocals - really like 'em as they don't sound as "forced" as on previous albums... imo. if the rest of the album is as good as this song, i'll consider seeing 'em again when they're touring... don't wanna spoil it, so i don't post a link here, but the song's also on youtube (worked better for me)...

Like Bomber Noigez said, I also found it classic sounding but a bit dull. Certainly not in the same vein as classic AC/DC album openers/first singles like Thunderstruck and Heatseeker (these were the AC/DC singles of my youth). Thunderstruck is so good that it even transcended some of the worst lyrics ever written to become an all time rock classic.
The new one has managed to get itself stuck in my head though after only one listen, so it might be a grower.
