Ok trivia fans - Who REALLY played drums on 1916? (clue - it wasn't Phil Taylor!)

Are we talking the 1916 title track or is it meant to be March or Die the album?

I know Tommy Aldridge played on March or Die, not Mikkey as suggested by the cover but are you sure 1916 isn't a Philthy album? He was still in the band then.

I have it on very good authority ie Wurzel and Pete Gill told me on separate occasions, plus just listen to the diference between Rock n' Roll and 1916, it doesnt even sound like Phil Taylor - I mean, they had to drop Overkill from the set because Phil's legs had gone!

If that's true it's astonishing news indeed.

If you look at set lists from the 1916 tour, they were fitted around Phils ability to play - ie a lot of the fast stuff was dropped. This did lead to him being fired, but the final straw was Philthy throwing Campbell through a table because he had bollocked him for fucking up a gig, breaking Campbells leg in the process. Naturally that was the end of the tour. Lem would never say anything bad about Philthy, but even that was too much and he had to go.

Yeah I knew he'd lost it but I had no idea he didn't play on 1916. Pity this thread didn't come sooner, we could have asked DUNK to quiz one of the band.

I don't know what you would get from them. Lem could have set the record straight in his autobiography, but he only brushed on the subject. It is well known that Lem won't say a bad word against Philthy, and I think Phil Campbell would have to tow the party line. The only other people who could throw light on the matter are no longer in the band, and certain people have trashed their reputations, so anything they say will be interpretted as sour grapes. My sources have no reason to lie to me, nothing to gain, and they told me about this three years apart, and seperately.
