I'd perhaps recommend the live album Space Ritual. Other albums with Lemmy are Doremi-Fasol-Latido, Hall of the mountain grill and Warrior on the edge of time. Lots of their music are spaced out and psychedelic but they made a couple of good hard rock songs too like Silver machine, Motorhead and Kings of Speed.

I love Hawkwind. I prefer their version of Motorhead to Motorhead's. The new album, "Take Me To Your Leader", is excellent. Can't go wrong with Space Ritual.

I wouldn't take Silver Machine as indicative of them mind. It's a remarkably dull song by Hawkwind standards.

Silver machine was only just realised when I went to see them live. I quite enjoyed the track but it was commercial for them and is now used in commercials. There were loads of guys from my school at the gig who were extremely disappointed as they'd never heard Space Ritual. I thought it was a great gig and took no notice of teh female nude dancer with them. I think her name was Stacey. I went to see them more recently at an all-nighter at Brixton Acedemy. They were still good but that friggin Samantha Legs Tits Fox spoilt the gig.. She 'sang' Master of the Universe which was one of my favourite songs with the band. If only she could sing it would've been acceptable. I missed the next gig because I didn't want to hear her mess great songs and turn them into crappy Eurovision Song entrants.

Doremi Fasol Latedo, Hall Of The Mountain Grill, Warrior On The Edge Of Time. Those would be my pick of the Lemmy era Hawkwind studio albums. And of course Space Ritual for the live experience.

Some guys forgot album or two. With Lemmy: Doremi Fasol Latido, Space Ritual (live), Hall of the mountain grill and Warrior On the Edge Of time. First two albums are cool two "Hawkwind" and "in search of space" who were before Doremi Fasol Latido. Maybe is good to start from the begining. For me few more albums which I think are even better are "Levitation", "The Chronicle Of The Black Sword" and "Live Chronicles". Those are even better than those with Lemmy, for me at least.

However I suggest before Hawkwind too, thats Sam Gopal and ROckin Vickers, as well Pink Fairies and before that John Alder Twink (Think Pink and Mr.Rainbow) and before that The Deviants. Thats about it when you want listen pre-Motorhead bands and bands connected this or other way with band. I suggest Curtis Knight Zeus too, Eddie's band before Motorhead. Story about those bands: In The Deviants you had Russel Hunter (drumer) on first album, than on second one you had bassist Duncan Sanderson, than on last third album you had Paul Rudolph. Paul came on Lemmy's place in Hawkwind. When founder of The Deviants Mick Farren goes (Mick wrote songs for Motorhead and Hawkwind: Lost Johnny, Keep Us On The Road and Danage Case) to his solo stuff those three guys hooked with John Alder Twink and recorded his solo record 'Think Pink', than they invented Pink Fairies band. On third album of Pink Fairies Larry Wallis was cheef (first Motorhead guitarist) he and Lemmy make Motorhead in 1975 and they played on first two albums songs from Hawkwind, Fairies and Larry solo stuff. Now back to the story; Before Pink Fairies whe those guys were making Twinks solo record 'Think Pink' Twink was playing on Mick Farren solo album too 'Mona'. Later in 1978 Larry wallis was guitar player and producer on Mick Farren second solo album "Wampire stole my lunch money". Lemmy's road was Rockin Vickers, Sam Gopal and than Hawkwind. (I can recomend Opal Butterfly but he was in this band only three months and he didnt recorded with them, they got only three singles). I suggest to learn all this bands with Motorhead. This group of bands with Motorhead of course, is real deal. Thats why when music industry put Motorhead with metal stuff I got diarrhea . Enjoy.

I can very much take them or leave them, space ritual and warrior get the very occasional airing but on the whole I don't listen to them frequently. On the other hand, a girl I've known years (we go and watch kasabian together, don't take the piss) recently confided how much she loved the HAwks, so it takes all sorts
