Which one should I read first???

Helloooooo lovely Motorhead friends!   It's good to be back after a long absence, I've missed trawling through the forums.  Anyway, now exams are out of the way (and the post-exam hangover....) and I can actually read non-academic books for fun (WOOHOO!!!), the first thing I did was buy 3 books I've been looking forward to reading.  Mick Wall's Lemmy bio, Alan Burridge's 'Collateral Damage' and Ian Carroll's Lemmy compilation.  Now I'm faced with the dilemma of which to do first? Help!!!

I've not read any of them, but I an Carroll's looked really good.

Hi there. I bought exactly the same three books and have started reading Mick Wall's biography first. So far it's been quite interesting. I'm up to the bit where he first becomes interested in girls and one of them tells him about this great new band from Liverpool who he must go and see...

I know eventually I'll tear up when it comes to the sad bits but that's okay. I also know that if I take Alan's book out of its vacuum shrink-wrap, I'll end up spending far too much money on records again! As for Ian's book, I'll start that one when I need something quick to read, in between gulps of Jack and coke!

Anyway, enjoy. I mean this could become a book club where we all read them and discuss the pathos, bathos and relative literary merits but, ask yourself, would he approve? Perhaps he would , considering the subject matter! In Mick Wall's biog, he mentions the first record Lem ever bought was 'Knee Deep In The Blues' . Last year I bought a bunch of rock 'n' roll 78s and found a copy. Checking out the cover and handling the heavy record made the reading experience even better. I've often stuck a cd on or found a relevant track on You Tube whilst reading to enhance the process and suggest you do the same! Enjoy! Like your new icon, by the way

Only have bothered with Mick Walls book which I found well worth a read

Alan's book is a guide to non Motorhead releases and is basically a catalogue of stuff for collectors... interesting but as desert rat said expensive....the Ian Carroll one is just a book of condolences and half of it holds no weight or interest...good for skipping through now and then....the Mick wall book seems to be good so far but i only got 2 chapters in before the call of spinning records and ruining my liver distracted me....

Cheers guys! Yep, I'll probably skim through Alan's book (I'll get my husband to hide my credit card first.....), do Mick Wall's one during one of my 5-hour-long insomniac reading sessions, and pay smaller, intermittent visits to Ian Carroll's one, possibly at the same time as ruining my liver, haha! I'll probably tolerate a maximum of 3 weeks just idling away my free time like a normal person, then the need for stimulation will kick in - at this point, I've decided to pick up a guitar and realise one of my ambitions of learning an instrument! My nearly-60-year-old mother, deep into her mid-life crisis, has done the same and actually has an amp set up in her bedroom  where she sits and jams to all the music that she used to yell at teenage me for playing too loudly, haha!  I still work 4 12-hour night shifts a week, but being someone who needs very little sleep that's not enough to keep me busy......
