I recieved my copy in the mail yesterday. Sounding good so far. A big improvement over the awful Dirty Diamonds.
Danny Saber, formerly of Black Grape, produces and co-writes and it seems to have paid off with the music crossing the bounderies between the metal of Dragontown/Brutal Planet and some funkier rhythms (which remind me of Black Grape themselves at times, especially on Wake the Dead).
Only played it through once but it sounds good.
The album also marks the return of Steven, from Welcome to My Nightmare.

YES, I was waiting for this one and it doesn't disappoint. The Steven part sincerely creeped me out.
If you can, check the expanded version, which so far I only was able to catch on iTunes. It's got two more songs plus an unplugged version of the Salvation song.

What did you make of the story? After the Steven part at the end I was wondering if it was meant to suggest that it was all a plan in Steven's mind that he hadn't acrried out yet as he was locked up.

Actually, the good part is that the story seems to go further if you take into account the two extra iTunes songs (basically, Spider is not so repentant anymore as he seemed in Salvation).
I like to go for the supernatural part, which the Coop always seemed to like. You know, the kind of fairytale-gone-wrong feel that you get with Welcome To My Nightmare. Basically, Steven has been locked in a cell for the past 28 years, but he's projecting outside. Spider is his projection, the refined gentleman killer that he's dreaming to be to exact revenge on the world.
Other explanation: all of Spider's murders happened in the past. The outro is basically Spider's ghost talking to Steven. For some reason, in this case, I also like to think that Spider is Steven's father.

Geez... I have just heard it, not listened to it... But it sounds pretty good.
