You wrote something about soon putting an mp3 online for download Cope, can't remember where. Maybe you've mentioned it this before too, but what kind of style do you guys play? Motorhead? Or what?

yeah I'm gonna try and get some online pretty soon. It's not heavy stuff though. Sometimes it's mellow, sometimes rocky but not metal. Our singer (who started the band) is a big Verve fan and me (bass) & Dika (guitar) are into heavier stuff so it tends to depend on who's ideas are in a particular song. The singer tends to moan a bit if it's too heavy but we have got a few fairly rocking tunes. It's all original stuff.

Spectrum Flow
Only one of our demo tracks has real drums on because of difficulty recording them. Most use a drum machine, one has no drums cos it was recorded before we had a drummer and one has drums because it was recorded live in the practice room with one mic in the middle.
I could send some MP3s by email but although I trust you guys I owe it to the rest of the band to copyright the songs first cos I said I would take care of that. I'm doing that really soon. I have all my copies ready, I just need to get 'em posted to my self. With a bit of luck and if I don't procrastinate any longer it should all be in hand in the next few days.

Well I copyrighted 2 songs today and it cost a lot more than I thought. I did them in duplicate so we'd have a spare but we might have to abandon that idea. It costs £3.75 per package to copyright by registered post. May not seem much but it soon adds up considering we've got 8 or 9 to do eventually.
Anyway, I think they'll get uploaded soonish but I can email them too (~2MB each).
The 2 we have available so far are called Break The Shackles and Social Cemetery.
Social Cemetery was recorded a few months ago with just 2 guitars, a bass and a vocal. We've improved a lot since then and we do a better version now but we still think it sounds good.
Break The Shackles was recorded more recently and has a drum machine on it cos it's a pain to record proper drums.
The songs we have are quite varied in style because we have 3 people contributing both musically and lyrically.

Where did you copyright them? Could you post the link?

I copyrighted them by registered post to myself. According to UK copyright law, the work is automatically copyrighted as soon as it is in material form (ie on CD, Tape or even on paper), it's then just a matter of proving ownership. You do that by posting the song to yourself by registered post and never opening the envelope. You get the post office date stamped across the seal and you have a receipt which proves that the work was created before the date it was posted.

Cope, good luck with your band in the present and the future. Do you have a website for this band? and have you played any gigs yet?.

Cheers
We've yet to play our first gig. I hope we can do our first this summer. Probably a support slot where we'd do 5 songs or something. No website yet but I've been thiking about setting one up.

Cope, thanks for the information. You see I'm an up-coming promoter in Bristol, and currently I'm looking around and trying to build a database of contacts. I've got one gig planned in August so far, and am working on one for next month.

Well it has to be good to have contacts around the country. I now have a CD of 7 tracks I can send out. Let me know if you want a copy Jeff or anyone else.
