Anyone else seen this movie?
I got the DVD last week and I thought it was great. Lars Ulrich has gone up in my estimation. He comes across as a very honest, passionate individual rather than the egotystical spoiled brat he's often called. Kirk Hammett was unsurprisingly the understated nice guy and Hetfield was rather weird. Ulrich's meeting with Dave Mustaine reflected badly on Mustaine in my opinion. Mustaine virtually said that he'd give up all he's achieved in the past 20 years to still be in Metallica.
All in all some excellent viewing and even though some of Metallica's music in recent years has been questionable, their motives are prtrayed as being quite genuine in this movie. The only thing that doesn't sit right with me about them still, is the godawful MTV Icon show.
5/5 for the movie

Havent seen it yet. I was gonna see it in the cinema but the only person interested in coming and seeing it with me said he was only going purely to take the piss out of them!! I have the book but I dont wanna read it until I have seen the film so its sitting on the shelf waiting for a read.Im a really big metallica fan but I thought the St Anger album was them trying to be "metal" just because people were saying that they were sell outs - didnt seem like that was really where they were at musically at the time. Must get me a copy of the dvd.

Got it - really enjoyed it. Didnt think Mustaine came across bad at all, actually my heart really went out to him. I dont know if he would give it all up to be in Metallica or if if he just cant get over the hurt of how he was treated by the band and people he loved more than anything in the world. Theres more of that conversation in the special features actually. I like lars but there is something manipulative about him - James I thought was very messed up but he knew it and was working on it - I thought he came accross as very honest but moody - Kirk is just a sweetheart. I sorta feet sorry for Bob Rock - I think he would have loved to be the basest - If you saw "A year and a half in the life of metallica" - when they are in the studio recording the black album - Bobs attitute seems to have changed from then to now - now he seems more humble or something. Anyway - im waffelling - 5/5 in my opinion ;D

I didn't wanted to see it cause the title was taken from St. Anger and I kinda loathe that album, so I was assuming it had a lot to do with it and so on. But on the other hand Lars in a kin spirit (Gene Simmons of Metallica, you see) so I reckon I'll have to watch this one in the end.
;D

They've sucked since 1989. The dvd was interesting though.
