Life's strange. I used to hate the Powerslave song, so that I never liked the album so much. Recently I came to like the song immensely and the album - which sports the incredible Flash Of The Blade too - has become one of my favourites. Please notice that both Powerslave and Flash Of The Blade are from Bruce.
4 out of 5.

This is one of my favorite albums with IM, I've liked it since it was released. I remember back in those days, sitting there with the big LP cover in my hands, spellbound by the cover art. I think this whole album is great. 4 out of 5 for me too Iron Maiden - Rime Of The Ancient Mariner

It's OK but I only have it on cassette, recorded tape to tape in the late 80s. I was disapointed because I first heard Aces High on Live After Death and that's a much better version than on Powerslave. Churchill's speach rocks on LAD 4/5 - Anywhere I Roam - Metallica The Black album is a grower

I think this album is great! Losfer Words! Yeah!
Here's a funny thought that came to us (American Dog) while recording the song "Bullshit", if you listen closely at the beginning , before the belch (on Bullshit) you can hear us open a cooler , does the sound of this plastic cooler being opened sound familiar to you? We think it sounds just like the "creaking ship" noises on "Ancient Mariner"!!! Compare the two and see (sea?) what you think!
Get back to us on this one, i really think it's a cooler on "Ancient Mariner"..I really do!

Ummm... Maiden's behind-the-scenes... Coolers and what's inside... Water, water everywhere, nor any drop to drink ;D

If the poor bastards on the Acient Mariner would have had the amount of drinks we had in our cooler (the mighty polar 120) they'd have been alright! ;D

Never heard someone call him "poor bastard", but it fits indeed.

Hm another one of those albums that I never paid much attention to. It's weird, 'cos I kept hearing this little voice when I saw Powerslave in shops going "*prod* buy it *prod*" and when I did I liked but forgot quickly. A solid 4/5 though, but the title track and most of the others slip from my mind quite easily.
Key tracks: Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight.

Aces High is one of those typical songs bass players write for vocalists. "Here Bruce, I've got this nice song for you, piece of cake to sing, you'll love it..."

Yeah Bruce's voice was at its peak back then. Too bad he never trained himself not to sing from his throat.

I think his voice is back on form these days. Not the air raid siren any longer but he's recovered from his early 90s blip where he totally lost it.

I think much of his attitude is back, but he can't manage certain songs anymore. Never sung with a method.

First album I ever bought. Along with the first album. That was in 1987, because the shop never had "Licence To Ill" by the Beastie Boys!! Amazing album like.
