I still think theres a lot of good bands about. For me I was never really into maiden (after piece of mind), acdc (at all), Sabbath , ozzy (after bark at the moon) so to be honest I don't really give a fuck whether they are about. Don't get me wrong-when we've seen them at festivals they still are bloody good (apart from Sabbath at hyde park) but album wise-they stopped for me years ago.

I'm the kind of person who wants both the old and the new bands to continue forever, so I'm torn here. Talking about Maiden, it would be sad in the extreme if they called it quits without being forced to. In a way, bands succumbing to illness (see AC/DC), death or personal differences feels less, well, sad. It's really the best word I can use. R.E.M. quitting because they felt like they had run their course really bummed me. I prefer the "we're in hiatus" status, a la Rammstein.

there;s enough new stuff out there to keep me interested for now,but agree the old guard are heading for the final hurrah, so lets hope they all go out with a BANG not a whimper. Think our respective faves have enough integrity to leave at the right time.

We've got the memories.... we've got the albums.... and we've got the DVD's!
Remember. I was watching Venom the other night, loved it and didn't really care whether they were still going.

Has anyone checked Royal Blood. They have played 3/4 of their songs on the radio over the last 6 months. They seem pretty good. Sort of heavy rock ,bit bluesy maybe. I think their album (1st ?) went into the top 10 albums.

Plus an album I am eagerly anticipating is the new 4arm one. Unfortunately the original singer has left, but the album is supposed to be out later in the year

We decided we wanted to see them live at Nottingham but by the time we decided it was sold out

I don't have any cassettes now. I used to buy a lot of bootleg Motorhead cassettes from record fairs but sold them after not having a cassette player for ? years. Stupid fuck aren't I. I bet most of them would be rare as now. Tapes from Cambridge corn exchange and venues like that. As for Metallica -I have that album on red vinyl (though I believe it is called metal up your arse ) and any Metallica from 1982 is better than most bands from any year. As for st.anger-well I have run out of swear words to describe that
