Skimming through the 'Top 5 Novels' thread gave me the idea to ask all of you awesome bastards to recommend me some good reading material I've got an epic journey coming up soon (MOTORVEMBER, MOTHERFUCKERS!!) and will have no company on bus/plane/train except whichever book I happen to be reading. I do have a major weakness for a good rock bio, so please throw some titles at me and if I haven't read them I will grab a copy and get stuck in while I'm twiddling my thumbs in airports etc. Cheers my beauties!

Ive read Machine Head's,Ozzy's,Phil Lynott's ,Slash,s and obviously Lemmy,s. All good reads, maybe Phil's was the most interesting (apart from Lemmy's but I presume you've read that.) Alan Burridges -Motorhead live to win, is also the complete book about Motorhead and well worth getting.

Dee Dee Ramone's autobiography Poison Heart is a funny read to get you started. Nina Antonia wrote a great biog on Johnny Thunders and Steven Adler's Appetite For Destruction is good to read alongside Slash's autobiog to compare notes from two very different perspectives.
I enjoyed Steven Tyler's autobiog too for its disarming honesty which made me laugh out loud a few times. I'm reading a biog on Amy Winehoise at the moment but you don't want to start crying in a public place so best leave that one alone. If you are flying, you might find the documentary film Amy available in-flight, the best music film of the year in my view.
Any of John Lydon aka Rotten's autobiogs are great reads too. Pete Townshend's autobiog is a good read but quite self-indulgent and self-pitying in places. Great Balls Of Fire and Cash on Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash respectively are absorbing reads if you like your roots of rock'n'roll too. Happy reading!

Thinking about it Slash s book was riddled with how much smack he'd taken and became a bit predictable. For an honest humorous book try Dee Snider of Twisted Sister fame especially if you were a TS fan.

Wow! Cheers folks! Yep, I've read Slash and Ozzy (and Lemmy obviously hehe) but didn't think to read Steven Adler so that's going on the list. And Johnny Cash too - his life is fascinating so that's getting punched into Amazon straight away. Thanks for your suggestions, I'm now gonna be able to keep myself entertained for several hours either side of Motorhead!

Tony Iommi's Iron Man is a good one, I've read it recently. It's not exactly an autobiography, but Ghost Rider by Neil Peart is a really great book.
