So Motorhead play Disneyworld - who would have thought of that?! Having braved a corridor of storms on the way to the gig and paying $2.32 a gallon of petrol/gas, I struggled to find the signs for The House Of Blues- there aren't any - and found my way to the Orange Car Park in Downtown Disney.
Situated next to the Cirque Du Soleil the shack that is the HOB offer you a wristband before entry if you are drinking alcohol. After some local guy did his best Dick Van Dyke English accent on me, I entered the venue. Underwhelmed by the childish decor on the walls, I bought a can of something that wasn't Budweiser as I refuse to drink that piss. I bought myself a pulled pork sandwich - whoever thought of that name must have been pulling their own pork - I got in line for the merchandise queue which snaked up the stairs as Crobot hit the stage. They sounded very Southern rawkkk to me with a wailing vocalist to boot.
After 20 minutes in line I splashed out on a Bad Magic US tour t-shirt for $40 but balked at the design of another on offer which had a badly-drawn warpig character on a Bomber-style bomb with the slogan Motorhead Give You Bombs or something similar. I bought a couple of Mikkey Dee signed drumsticks for $20 and a signed Phil Campbell giant pick for $10. I also went for a pack of Motorhead playing cards for $20 and admonished myself for my spending.
I got myself as near to the front of the stage as posdibl, and managed to find a good spot overlooking stage right. I noticed the venue was already packed to capacity and had a good club atmosphere.

I've just seen Mark's post and yes, I planned to see them at Pompano Beach tonight but won't be able to make it as I can't get the transport sorted out in time to get there and back. Still, there's a Motorboat Pre-cruise party to go to tomorrow night Miami before boarding the Notorboat on Monday. Cheers!

Anthrax, bless 'em were the best I've ever seen them. I haven't really enjoyed them live before and thought they were garbage when I saw them supporting Motorhead at Wembley. But Orlando got the best of them in a tight, sing along set with some great band audience interplay. High energy and very enjoyable to watch. Scott Ian's apology for being absent last time around was amusing. He said that his intestine blew up three times their normal size so wouldn't have been able to stand up! They got a rapturous response from the crowd and even dedicated Neon Knights to Motorhead, which they said described the band exactly, 'those three muthafuckas!'

So watching the roadies quickly pull apart the Anthrax drum kit and admire the pretty female roadie struggle with a monitor across the stage, I was happy to hear a roar go up as the Anthrax banner was pulled aside to reveal the instantly- recognizable warpig band logo. To a few strident bass chords, Lem sauntered on at 10.20 to a warm HOB welcome. A gruff good evening was followed swiftly by the opening riff to Bomber which the band played as fiercely as I've seen them do in many a year. Into Stay Clean without a pause and I looked for signs of a hesitant bass run but didn't see one. A quick hello to Orlando then another golden moulds as Lem put it, Metroplolis, he seemed to slur. A good pace, unlike recently and into the usual flurry of guitar solos, blues and drum abuse.

Over The Top was dedicated to the audience and to Lem himself. The set passed by in a blur. It would have been nice to get a new number but it wasn't forthcoming. Motor smell suggested elsewhere on the forum that they wouldn't want to take risks and hail getting through the set without mishaps and Im inclined to agree with him on the basis of this outing.
Phil kept talking at the same time as Lem which became a bit irritating after a while but I guess he was just trying to keep up the banter. He asked how many had bough the album and the noted many raised hands when he asked how many had stolen it! He also resorted to spoilt little boy mode and crossed his arms before launching into a couple of numbers. Lem faltered on the lyrics to Ace Of Spades at one point but the Motorhead machine kept turning with yes, predictability but a well-oiled precision model to say the least.

Roll on the Motorboat on Monday and thanks to Motorhead for delivering a predictably fierce gig at The House Of Blues!

Phil interrupted Lemmy several times in Charlotte too. I wonder if he is trying to prevent Lemmy from possibly saying something that makes him seem completely out of it or senile?
In Charlotte Lemmy said something about it being North Carolina (which of course is correct) but then he said something about how they hadn't been there in over 10 years (but they had been there I think 2 other times in the last 5-6 years). He also referred to it as Charleston...but I have seen many younger bands get the cities wrong.

Yeah they played Charlotte in 2009 and 2011. I remember last time they had a good banter on stage. I hate that Phil is interrupting but like you said he may be trying to keep things on track during the show.

I'm feeling quite optimistic after reading some of these recent reviews ? Hopefully after a month of resting in October, they'll be in good shape for the European dates! And who knows, they may have even had time to rehearse a new track off Bad Magic hehe ? I noticed that the show I'm going to is only the 3rd one of the tour so I'm assuming that they won't have had time to get knackered by then, haha! And yes, desertrat, you do have a great skill when it comes to writing up gigs! I enjoy reading your reviews too ?

Sorry, I'm writing this on my phone and I've just noticed that every time I try to put a smiley face it turns it into a bunch of fucking question marks!
