My top 3 gigs are (only 1 gig per band otherwise, for me ,Machine Head get all 3)
1- Machine Head- tough one this.Saw them 3 times and each gig was superb for various reasons.Setlist wise the Birmingham gig was best, BUT the gig in a small venue probably shades it on all other accounts .So the gig in Norwich was probably my gig of the year
2 Twisted Sister at Download- myself, everyone around me and the band were taken back 25 years ago.absolutely brilliant
3 Avenged Sevenfold at download- proved that there is someone else that can headline festivals

Difficult to pick 3, Quo at Hammersmith in March was special, conversely Quo at Wolves a week later was not so good due to a poor crowd less than in to the gig! Maiden wers stunning at Hellfest and Sonisphere, thoroughly enjoyed Motorhead and Lemmy being almost vibrant at Wembley. Just to be obtuse, Chas & Dave at Sonisphere were incredible. and I am going to see Twsited Sister when they come next if it kills me. Cant do top 3s sorry Mark LOL

Unlike you two I've only been to 6 shows last year , so I've no difficulty compiling my Top Three List out of those: ~ the most convincing Metallica/Slayer/Mastodon-package at Sonisphere in June ~ Elbriot Festival (Hamburg) in August headlining Machine Head and Amon Amarth ( Airbourne weren't too shabby either). ~ and of course Motörhead in November, mainly because they're still around ( or should I say "again"?), plus bonus points for the local crowd for working themselves into a proper nonstop frenzy right from the very beginning.

I'm afraid to say that i haven't been in 3 decent shows this year. lol Only Ratos de Porão and Krisiun, which were 2 great shows ... but beyond these only remember the concerts with local bands risking covers. Poor btb ...

Mine would be:
Motorhead at Wembley. In part because a few months earlier I wasn't sure it would happen, in part cause of how they pulled off playing such a massive barn like they were in Rock City, and in part cause they pulled No Class out of their collective arses, which was a fantastic moment. As the intro kicked in without warning, I looked at Tim, Tim looked at me and we were both beaming. great moment. Oh and in part cause of the unknown pretty young lady using my shoulder to support herself as she bounced around. Nice
Status Quo Frantic Four at Hammersmith. Despite only one change in setlist from when I saw them the year before at the Hammy, they absolutely rocked again.
Black Veil Brides at Rock City. An okay band I can listen too, but the pleasure was seeing the joy on my then not quite 15 year old daughters face as she experienced her first 'proper' gig. Prior to that she'd seen Steps at the Trent FM, The X Factor Tour at Wembley Arena (complete with Jedward) and 1D at the Stadium of Light. So not only her first remotely decent band but also her first proper venue. Needless to say she is now hooked. Could get expensive but a great moment for a dad struggling to have much relevance for his daughter any more.

When they get to that age (judging from what I was like ) they don't want a lot to do with their parents so that would be good if she goes to a few more with you. We are all going to see slipknot (misses favourite band) tonight.the first time we have been to a gig together since 2009 when I dragged them all to see Motorhead headline guildfest -Candice was 9 taylor was 7 !!! Not going to make it a regular thing though-too bloody expensive!!!!

Nice reminiscence Lard, it was a belting night at Wenbley and No Class was indeed a nice f@ing surprise! My daughter asked if she could come see The Damned , I may take her to the Undercover fest in September, reason being its about a mile to walk from fest site to my brothers house. I like taking kids to the pop gigs, but to have them with me at Download etc would be special. WE have those memories of well special gigs, frankly the 1983 gigs are fresh in my memory still 2015 is going to be a GOOD year

My daughter is badgering me to take her to Download sometime. I've said next year, mainly as this year the headliners aren't grabbing my attention and I'm keeping what powder I still have dry, after booking AC/DC, for Motorhead's 40th.
The wife isn't keen though. She's spotted a pissed bloke taking a slash where he stood one time we went and has decided it's not suitable for my daughter. We'll see next year

Im gonna see The Darkness at Rock City in December, 2 days after my daughters birthday, so a ticket and a tee could be on the cards for her as a present.

Just rereading this thread, I realise I never actually got a ticket for The Darkness as previously stated that I was going. Been a lean year for gigs overall sadly. I blame the new job.
