I think I prefer new Maiden to old. I mean, the trilogy since Bruce Returned. They're a lot more... musical now. I never cared for songs like Aces High, because they always sounded really awkward. The Trooper is nice and all, but I think they have better melodies now. And the three guitars sound incredible. And this is a boring post, so I'm going to go put a TV dinner on or something.

That sounds like it was written by a 12 year old. I should be ashamed

Hahahahaha. No it was fine ;D
My only problem with current Maiden is the production. I want to hear the three guitars MORE. Just give the guys a more in-studio production (as opposed to Shirley's live-like approach) and you have something very close to perfection.
Life and Death is incredible.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind hearing the guitars a little better.
What I really like about the current incarnation is that the melodies now have room to breathe. yet they haven't gotten rid of their 80s aesthetic. And talk about epic! This stuff is huge.
"A Matter of Life and Death" is quite possibly my favourite metal album.

I hear that. It's tunes like Benjamin Breeg or Thousand Suns that spell that effect for me. Breeg is having a fistfight with Fear of the Dark as my fave Maiden song.
I want more Nicko songs though. New Frontier was cool.

I didn't like Thousand Suns at first, but I have come to appreciate it. Stunning guitar line. My biggest problem was Bruce's vocals. They don't really work well in the intro. It wasn't written for vocals, I guess.
My favourites are The Pilgrim, The Longest Day, and For The Greater Good of God, which has one of the most powerful choruses I have ever heard. Even if it is, once again, attributed mostly to the guitar work.
Not to undermine Bruce. He is stellar, of course.

Funny thing, the intro is what I like the most in Suns and Good of God, regarding the voice. Slow, somber Bruce sounds amazing I think.

I do really like the beginning to Good or God, come to mention it.
I would now like to state my appreciation for Rainmaker. Gosh darn, this is a fantastic little number.

Oooooh yeah. Best one on Dance of Death if you ask me. It's good because (at least for me) it's got one of those melodies which are really hard to sing the right way, if you get my drift here. You know, "I heard a choir of angels CAlling out my name": the way one needs to push UP with one's voice to get CAlling, and not go out of tune.
Also, I love the verse/chorus inversion thing they did. Just brilliant.
Fucking hard to sing live though. But of course Bruce did it right when I went at the gig.
