A rumor that has been circulating in Metal circles for a while is that Phil Taylor is a crack dealer living in L.A. or environs. I don't wish to lend any creedence to this...The only allusion made by Lemmy recently (interview, Goldmine, May 18, 2001) was that Philthy was unable to attend the 25th anniversary show at Brixton Academy owing to his current illegal residence in the U.S.A., and inability to return if he left. If anyone could either verify or debunk this it would be appreciated. RC

And to update what is known... "“Fragments Of Broken Probes” was largely old material with one new number featuring the core trio of Farren, Andy C and new drummer Philthy Animal Taylor ex-Motorhead while ‘99s CD “The Deviants Have Left The Planet” is almost entirely new (and is entirely excellent too!). An earlier CD on Demon collected various stray tracks under the title Partial Recall which became for a while Farrens column title in UHCK but the great thing was that the band had once more become a live entity - Farren and Andy performed at two of the Terrastock festivals using pick-up rhythm sections in Rhode Island and San Francisco and in late 99 the band (minus Philthy who couldnt get a permit)..." RC I may be wide of the mark but surely if Philthy couldnt get a US entry permit, he cnat be a crack dealer living in LA can he ? or am I completely missing the point ?

Very true, Ian...but the most recent information (The Lemmy interview) indicated that he was in-country now...so the assumption is that he crashed the border sometime after the date given on the Deviants page. As for the crack dealer allegation...until the gavel falls, he's innocent until proven guilty.

I heard from a Lemmy interview that he didn't make the 25th anniversary show on account of him being in the US illegally.

So he's probably Stateside, unless INS caught up with him. I knew some individuals who maintained a job there over a period of years without legal residence in the country. Perhaps he's a shoe salesman! "A thousand pardons, Sir, but we don't have those brogans in 12EE..." ;D RC

A couple of weeks ago me and a mate were waiting for some others and, to pass the time, we were talking about music and stuff and, naturally, the conversation turned to Motorhead, just as the others arrived. "What you talking about?" says one of the others. "Motorhead" says I. "Oh", says he, "my aunt used to babysit for the old drummer Taylor's family" and he carries on walking. Now, not to be put off easily I'm trying to find out what exactly's going on, but I don't like to ask directly. I shall do it subliminaly using hypnosis or, failing that, following him to a family reunion. Either way I'm going to find out what's going on or at least get some anecdotes. It might not be for some time though... Or I shall fail miserably. It's still a cool story though.

About two years ago I was at a restaurant and an employee noticed my leather which has "Motorhead" , big and bold on the back, she had told me that she used to hang out with Lemmy and the guys at some famous club in L.A.. She mentioned that Phil was a "tweaker" or meth head(crystal of course) living in that area. She didn't mention any illegal immigrant status. She said it was sad because he didn't have any money and was basically a bum, which I hope is not true. I can believe the meth head part. As far as a crack dealer, I have friends who are from L.A. and they said that meth is more prevalent than crack(or cocaine)and he's more likely a meth dealer.

Maybe [glow=red,2,300]The Rainbow Bar and Grill,[/glow] Lemmy88...I have been told Lemmy holds court there when in town. When I lived there, the Stars would come there to suck back Heinekens and be gawked at. Wherever he (Philthy) is, I hope he's well. RC
