The other day I had a chance to ask Mikkey Dee a question that has been in the back of my mind since the "Sacrifice" tour. I always wondered, as did some of my other Motorheadbanger friends, what Dee was hearing in the headphones he dons during his "Sacrifice" drum solo. He told me they are just "mufflers" - that he hears nothing. Some people have speculated that there is some kind of click-track in there that helps him keep time, but that is not the case. "I just use them because when Lem and Phil are offstage, and not playing, there is so much buzzing up there that I can't concentrate without the mufflers on," he said. He added that sometimes the crowd noise during the drum solo was also a distraction and therefore, the headphones come in handy. - CROW

lIt wouldn't surprise me if they're not just mufflers, although it does get very noisy on stage and he probably can't hear what the other guys are playing; especially if it just happens to be Motorhead on there with him.
