I posted this in another thread but nobody gave a shit. the cover is very very Similar to Iron Maiden's The Clairvoyant (Live) single from 1988 Derek has said that he was inspired by the roman god Janus for the cover, he could see your past and your future while looking at you, thus he had 3 faces. January takes his name.

I actually heard the three-headed Snagg is there cause of the three members of the band. On the back cover of the album there was to be a mirror image of the main cover art, just with Lem, Phil and Mikkey's faces exploding. But I can see why Maiden's Clairvoyant Eddie's got three faces. Now, where's your trivia again? ;D

i don't think one explanation excludes the other. intresting info btw. anyhow, i still think joe *might* have been inspired by the maiden cover because even the basic elements are very alike. for example, both have a vertical axis driven throught the head, eddie's got a screw-driver or whatever you call that and snaggletooth 's got a beam of light or lava or whatever that is...

Sure it's a bit like the Maiden cover, but as I already said (I think) in another topic it also looke like the deaf forever single, and that's older than maidens single...
I see that similarity witht he Janus statue though...
After all Petagno is an artist, and my guess is that he looks at all kinds of diffrent art-pieces with diffrent eyes than we do. And of course he probably gets inspired by what he sees and makes his version of things. In this case I think it's more liek a copy of older artwork from himself.

...not a striking similarity, but the three heads are there. And imo that's about the same as the maiden cover...
And usually the trivias in this topic are made out as some kind of contest of some kind.

Its an awesome piece of artwork but one thing is making me look long and hard at the artwork...the lack of the swastika. Its part of Motorhead now and I always expect it on the album covers, sadly I cant see it on here..unless Im going blind.

Doh!!!! Yeah the Iron Cross. I don't know what made me think of the swastika. Anyway where is the Iron Cross on the album cover?

I wondered about that too, but apparently it comes and goes across the album covers history.

Missing the iron cross? The only time it's really part of the cover is "All the aces" right? On the other covers it's just a small pendant on Snaggletooth's left (right from our point of view) tooth.
Right?
