What do you guys think of Motorhead live? I know they're a kick ass band but I think their sound is terrible. I can honestly say I've seen Motorhead a few times and have NEVER even heard Phil Campbell play the guitar.
All I can hear is Lemmy's fuckin' bass.
I listen to bands that have bad ass riffs, chord progressions, and melodies like Zeppelin, Sabbath, Purple, Rainbow, Heep, BOC, Thin Lizzy, etc. and Motorhead is a band I fit in that category.
However you can't hear those bad ass riffs from "No Class", "Metropolis", etc. live. Fuck you can barely hear the solos.
I know all the songs and even though I can't hear the guitar I can hear it in my head and I enjoy every Motorhead concert I go to. How about new fans though? Can people get turned on to the music when it all sounds the same because Lemmy's bass is drowning everything out?
Should Lemmy turn the damn bass down? Or should Phil turn WAY UP! I think so. What's your opinion?

I agree that Motörheads' sound live is a bit of stinker sometimes, but it depends on a lot of stuff, where you're standing, place of the gig, and and most of all: Is everything working OK? Almost every gig I've been to there's something wrong. But when everything is working I think the sound is rather good...

I always stand in front so I don't know how the sound is further back. It's not so good up front, but I've heard them all so far, Mikkey, Phil and Lemmy. But I don't think it sounds too bad, the Motorhead concerts is in fact the concerts that really blows my fuse. It's raw, it's a locomotive, it's a rock'n'roll blast straight through my skull. After a concert like that, my ears ring, my throat is soar, shoulder almost dislocated and my neck feels like it's broken in several places.

the best sound i ever heard with MH was in a open air festival, but it's true the sound is generally bad, perhaps the sound is too loud !!! (i know what you mean, don't beat me)

All the shows i seen were all different the best sound was the Orgasmatron tour maybe because of the duel guitar attack, the bass was overridden but the worst was during Another Perfect Day tour it was the worst it was total distortion it was hard making out the songs in the beginning thats how bad it was.
