Rock Werchter, July 4th
To have a clear view, I had moved to the front hours before, other people wanted to get to the front as well, the place got crowded, pushing, some shouting, getting stuck between arms, legs, and sweaty bodies. Some rain, but that only seemed to attract more people. The Pixies were on their way. They came on the stage (the stage went down a little, they've, er, put on some weight, quite a lot of weight actually), yells and cheers, I wanted to applaud, but I couldn't move at all, my arms were stuck between my body and that of the person left, right and in front of me. One note and the crowd started jumping.
Bone machine Broken face Isla de encanta Monkey gone to heaven U-mass Velouria I bleed Number thirteen baby Wave of mutilation (one missing) Debaser Gouge away Tame Hey Gigantic Caribou (interlude) Where is my mind Cactus Here comes your man Vamos
Highlights for me: Bone Machine, Velouria, Wave of Mutilation, Tame ( so much energy), Gigantic (Go Kim!!), Where is My Mind (DUH!!!). During Vamos they went wild on the distortion, feedback, and other sound effects. The crowd jumped all the time, and as I got stuck, I had no choice: up and down I went What a rush. Absolutely wonderful. Rock and roll all the way. No talk, no fancy stuff, just rock. They seemed to enjoy it too. Smiles to each other and to the audience, some funny faces during Here comes your man, and all the passion needed to play.

Everyone loves the Pixies even when they've grown old and fat

What the Pixies have grown old and fat!?! Wouldn't they be more like gnomes?
