I downloaded a videoclip of Hawkwind playing their Silver Machine. It's from TOTP 1972. They look pretty "happy" I must say...

Love this song. We occasionally cover it in the practice room when we rehearse with our band. I even do vocals myself now and then...

;D Hé I have a little story about Harvey from Hawkwind. When I lived in England (Devon) I had a friend of mine who knew him, so I had the honeur to visit him a couple of times at his place. At the time I didn't know much of there music. His wife was a teacher at the time in North Devon at primary school. Later on when I discover the mushrooms in the cow manure, I got introduced to Silver machine and Frank Zappa- Joe's garage, boy did I have a good time

I couldn't find it either so I just guessed/improvised and play a G, A, C, D sequence sort of 12 bar blues style for the verse and D to C for the chorus. Sounds near enough to me.
I'll tab it if you like and Email it to you.

Silver Machine was a turning point with Hawkwind in 1972. I was at one of their gigs during that era and it was great, but after that they decided to sway more into the heavy rock rather than the psychedelic. A big let down for me but lovely to see Lemmie still rocking his socks off.

Since I've been listening to more Hawkwind I find Silver Machine a bit dull. Still it's worth a spin when it shows up on the odd jukebox.

It could even become a classic as a turning point in Hawkwind's history
