It's fine, I get it. I think a lot of creative energy (albums every year etc.) comes from ambition and hope. As you said, that was a situation where the machine was in full swing: people had concrete chances of becoming rock stars. Of course they fired on all cylinders.

Don`t actually remember exact year but think it was 2006-2007. Went to see Metallica from Finland to Estonia, Tallinna. Me, my wife, my 2 friends and their girlfriends. All started in my hometown, Jyväskylä. Went to a bar in the evening and bus is leaving next morning 4.00am. Me and Tomi(other friend) started to drink heavy for starters and barely managed to get our asses to a bus.
Ofcourse we were too drunk to get pass security of the boat. They kindly said that you have no change to get on board in that condition. Rest of the group are allowed to enter. So me and Tomi left behind and stayed harbour. FUCK! Lot`s of money envolved and tickets in our pocket`s.
After more drinking and maybe a nap i lost Tomi at harbour obviously reasons. Don`t know exatly how but after some while i found meself on some express ferry on my way to Estonia. At this point had no recollection of our hotel name. Arrived to harbour to Tallinna, Estonia. Sat in a taxi and try to phone to other friend who did get on board. Right after he said name of our hotel my phone went dead.
Check in to the hotel, asked location of the venue, time to be there and get more drinks. Saw the show wich was brilliant over 90,000 people present. Metallica playd whole Master of puppets album. Next morning continued drinking at hotel with some biker that i met. We were bit loud and my wife said outloud that other guy, that rocker sounds like Pasi. You can imagine my wife`s face when she actually saw me over there. Drunk as hell and same condition, seen Metallica and even remembering it.
Turns out that i had arrived to Estonia earlier than they were cause of that ferry express. When i checked in the hotel they were still at the boat. Afterwards heard that Tomi had left back home by train, woke up with unused ticket in his pocket. At harbour Tomi had falling over just front of security me unsteadily stumble by his side. After that my wife said that guys go see bands on their own. She has kept she`s word.
BORN TO LOSE LIVE TO WIN!
Pasi

Dynamo Fest Eindhoven 96 - Slayer came onstage as a 3piece coz Jeff Hanneman (R.I.P.)'s guitar was a bit stoned. They had a different drummer but Slayer was very very stoned. They played sloooowwww!! On the way into there hours earlier everyone was searched heh I got searched by some female 'secruity' lass, much to the displeasure of my then girlfriend. It was funny coz the night before I got stupidly stoned, got told off by the ex then went to worship Venom hahaha.

It sounds like the ex was the only one not on drugs.

It sounds like the ex was the only one not on drugs. Wey a Netherland music fest would've been the complete wrong place to go to! She was into it at the time but not the music. Especially coz I had to change me pants after seeing Voivod heheh!

Dunno about Voivod they were just too good but Slayer should have been called Slower. I remember Araya saying something like "Something smells sweet" and been really, like benign. I can neverever find any recording of their set from that night. But Venom was great heh!
Don't know if this is valid for this thread coz it's not from a concert but a weird tale from a spoken word show is Jello Biafra asking me and me friend to guard his written notes after a half hour of sitting next to him on the stage talking about bands and stuff.
