Actually none of my top 3 artist is metal. Maiden never worked for me, i think they have lack of balls in their songs. And by balls, i don't mean they have to be agressive, but i just miss that genuine rock n roll feel that i get from bands like early saxon and manilla road. You know, saxon is great classic heavy metal, but also they had great rocking feel in their albums up to power and the glory, after that they just don't work for me anymore. But when i hear albums like Saxon's S/T and Manilla Road's Crystal Logic, i just cannot not to notice how ballsy those albums are, even if they really don't have any of those elements that make extreme metal extreme. For me, they have estetic, but no real core, i just don't feel it. But still, if i have to name some songs, that would be: Infinite dreams Caught somewhere in time Phantom of the opera Futureal Lord of the flies In the past, i was always worrying how the hell am i only one who dislikes those bands, so i tried zillion times to get into them, but it just didn't work. In the end i decided to stop care about such stuff. There are quite few of those bands which are handled as gods and i can't handle any single album by them, but i just don't care today. Iron maiden are boring, but i don't hate them, Guns'n'Roses are the ones i truely despise

Futureal and Lord of the Flies are outstanding tunes, I think. Very often ignored but great. Futureal is high fun live. There is a recording or two of Bruce singing it live here and there, and I actually managed to see Blaze live once, and he sang it. Good times.
That's one interesting analysis you make of Maiden. I love Maiden but it is true that they are a very cerebral band - surprisingly so, what with the zombie mascotte and the stadium choruses. Actually, they are more restrained than other bands. Less wild, more ponderous. That's probably the reason why I can't use Maiden as, say, background music. I always need to pay attention to them.

I need to revisit the Blaze albums I guess, don't get played often in my house, and yes very well put view of MAiden Luka. Oddly, Infinite Dreams is a song I don't like at all. And Saxons Power and the Glory was a highpoint for me, REdline in particular

Thank you for understanding my dislike for maiden I love that song because it has somewhat melancholic feel to it. I like melancholy a lot in my music.

X Factor has 3 good opening tracks, Sign of the Cross, Lord of The Flies, Man on The Edge, then it's all downhill. Virtual XI The Clansman is decent (although mainly due to Bruce's version on Rock In Rio), then there's Futureal and The Angel And the Gambler which are okay. The rest is awful to me. One of my problems is Blaze sounds so flat after years of Bruce's powerhouse voice. That and they really went to town on the repetitious choruses on some of those songs, at times it feels like they ran out of lyrics so just said 'Keep singing the chosrus/key phrase until we've filled the record up'. I know that could be argued of a lot of their stuff, but it just feels even more prevelant on those 2 albums. After 7 straight classics, they dipped in quality a bit with the decent No Prayer..., but Fear of The Dark and the 2 Blaze efforts are terrible albums overall IMO, with only one or two decent tracks on each record. Thank heavens for the excellent Brave New World LP is all I can say

Blaze and Bruce have different ranges. Blaze is a baritone, Bruce is a tenor, and also yes, Blaze's range is narrower. The problem with Blaze's Maiden run was that he had to play Bruce. Blaze's solo material fits his own style and works great.

This is interesting, I also like a certain vein of heaviness in my music. Well, the dislike is cool, and I can see the reason behind it, though the effect is different on me. This is No Sleep. We understand divergent tastes. A recurring joke years ago was that I and Cope, the other admin, can agree on nothing musically. Which is not literally true of course, but the intersection really is surprisingly small, even considering our tastes within the Motörhead catalogue.

1 - Flight of Icarus 2 - 22 Acacia Avenue 3 - Stranger in a Strange Land 4 - Murders in the Rue Morgue 5 - Revelations
Actually, I'm not listen too much Iron Maiden, but I respect the band because Their 80's legacy is too much important for Metal and they made really good songs. After 'Seventh son ...' The band suffering a decline that they never have recovered. Except for Fear of the Dark, the albums never have the power of the 80's masterpieces. There are also jerks fans of the band that make me sick and I'm beginning to think that the song was made for them ... so I enjoyed the band to listen sometimes. The good thing is that Motörhead fans are not as boring, of course there are exceptions, but the proportion is much lower.
